And, there is a pathway forward that enables both economy and nature.
Great minds have worked for many years seeking to find an economic system that can also protect nature. They imagined an economy within which waste was minimized, resources were conserved, and the environment thrived. They called it a circular economy. In contrast to the current take-make-waste model, the proposed circular economy looks to reduce resource consumption, reuse and recycle materials, and recover value from waste. This shift in thinking could be the key to addressing the growing environmental challenges our planet faces.
In this article, I will explore the concept of a circular economy, and outline some successful initiatives that showcase it in action. I also describe ways you can participate in this transformative movement.
